Schodack, NY Family Photography | Summit Jabe, Five Months

Where to even begin in writing about my second born, my baby, my sweet son, my Summit Jabe.  From the moment I held him in my arms I knew he would be as kind and gentle as his middle name suggests, and as adventurous as his first name proposes.  He turned five months this week (where the heck has the time gone?!?) and although he’s still so young, I can see aspects of that very character showing itself daily.  He is very alert to his environment and keen to grab anything within reach, including my cheeks and hair.  But he does it all with such a heartwarming, single-dimpled smile that lights up from behind his eyes and spreads magically across his face.  He’s going to have a mischievous streak in him alright, but I think he’ll be as charming as the day is long.  He thinks sleep is boring and he doesn’t like to do much of it when the rest of us want to, but at 3am when he looks up from nursing and reaches to grab my fingers in his hand, I don’t even mind.  His absolute favorite thing in the entire world (other than chewing on his own toes) is his big brother, who races in every morning to give him kisses and cuddles, blow zurples on his belly and feet, and read to him from a collection of old school library books passed down from their Great Gram’s bookshelf.  Bearing witness to their love for each other stirs a deep happiness within that I didn’t even know existed until they did.
