Justine and Jared’s Plattekill Mountain wedding in Roxbury, NY has left a permanent imprint on my mind and not just because it was one of the chilliest weddings I’ve ever captured, but because it was one of the most majestic. When you get married on a mountaintop in October, you need to be ready for the weather to do all kinds of things and that, it did. In a matter of a couple hours on the summit of Plattekill Mountain, we were encircled by fog, rain, snow and sleet, but then the clouds completely parted and the sun shone brightly to reveal a breathtaking vista.
The thing about fog, though, is that you don’t know what’s beyond it… you wander into it with nothing but faith and and the hope that what it will reveal when it lifts will be well worth the wait. And you know what’s amazing? Each day of a marriage unfolds just the same: you cannot see what’s beyond the haze in front of you until you walk through it and it reveals itself little by little, bit by bit, and you begin to see the outline of your future taking shape in the distance and you know the vista is going to be sweeter and more beautiful than anything your wild imagination has ever conjured up.
Wishing Justine and Jared a lifetime of adventures and stunning vistas. With a marriage that kicks off with a day this awesome, you know it’s bound to be good.
