So when Denyele contacted me asking if I could photograph her wedding, I was super excited. Denyele is great friends with one of my 2015 brides (shout out to Emily C!) and I got to meet and hang out with her last fall while in Tampa photographing Emily’s beach destination wedding. I already knew Denyele would be a blast to shoot, but when she approached me asking if I’d be willing to do a pre-wedding, Mount Washington, MA engagement session at a waterfall, I was beside myself with excitement — I’d been wanting to do this exact thing for so long and I was just waiting for a couple to come along who were game. Denyele and Jonathan were it!
I had so, so, so many visions for this shoot and a really specific idea in my mind for exactly how I wanted the finished photos to convey themselves. Think romantic and sexy meet classy and traditional, all with a softly edgy twist. I know, those adjectives totally contradict each other, but I wanted it to work oh so badly. To be honest, I never thought the final images could live up to the photos that had been floating around in my mind for months before the shoot. But when I showed up to the location Denyele and Jonathan had carefully staked out beforehand for us, and saw the two of them standing there in the setting light looking equal parts stunning and handsome as heck, I knew all the vibes were aligned for a killer shoot.
