Having had the honor of capturing Katie and Tyson’s wedding back in 2015, it was so awesome to be able to spend a few hours catching up with them and capturing them together with their growing girls, Kaylee and Natalee.
Every minute of this shoot was absolutely breathtaking and surrounded in an incomparable glow, both literal and figurative. I was just so taken by the bonds between all four of them, as well as the romance that flowed between Katie and Tyson. This is a family that is madly in love and deeply, deeply connected and you can’t help but get caught up in the warmth of the light that emanates from that love.
In fact, here is just piece of a message I sent to Katie the morning after their shoot:
“At the risk of sounding incredibly cheesy, I drove home surrounded by the warm glow of your family’s beautiful energy and as soon as I arrived and checked on my kids, who were nestled in bed, I messaged my photographer friend and just raved about how much fun your session was. I feel like you guys really just GOT it. It wasn’t just about the photos, but about embracing the whole fun process and enjoying the night together as a family. I loved that.”
It meant so much to me to capture this beautiful family on a gorgeous mid-July evening. I loved how little this session was about posing for pictures and how much it was about just being together. The heart of every single session should rest right there in that perfectly sweet place.
I hope future summer evenings find the Arnold family just like this: full-face smiles, wound together in each other’s arms, and twirling and giggling in the setting light.
