When Jenn and Chris reached out to me last year about photographing their Cork Factory Hotel Wedding in Lancaster, PA, I couldn’t have been more on board!
I had first met Jenn and Chris in 2014 when I shot Chris’ brother’s wedding in the Catskills, and I knew the second I met them that they were seriously kind, genuine people and that their wedding day would be one big reflection of that. In addition, I’d always wanted to visit Lancaster. My grandmother was born in Pennsylvania Dutch country and although she moved to the Capital Region as a child, I’d spent my lifetime listening to tales of her youth and yearning to visit the area from which she’d hailed. So on the weekend of June 3rd, I packed my SUV, picked up my mom to come along with me for the journey, and headed down to PA. And what a fun weekend it turned out to be!
For one, Lancaster is one heck of a kick ass city – I loved visiting the Central Market, driving through the surrounding Amish towns, and… if you ever visit, do yourself a favor and don’t miss having breakfast at Gracie’s on Main – their omelettes and traditional scrapple are totally killer! But, of course, the real highlight was bearing witness to Jenn and Chris’ marriage. Seeing the way Chris looks at Jenn with total adoration, and how Jenn laughs with utter abandon when in his presence serves as a constant reminder of the ways in which they are the perfect balance for one another. Just go ahead and see for yourself!
