Albany, NY Maternity Photography | Caitlin & Andrew

As I drove down I-90 to meet Caitlin and Andrew for their session downtown, the rain was pouring so hard I could barely see the road ahead of me.  As my wipers waved back and forth at max speed, a ferocious rumble of thunder bellowed above and as a crossed the Patroon Island Bridge a sharp snap of lightning lit up the sky above the Empire State Plaza.  I was scheduled to meet Caitlin and Andrew in ten minutes beside the Capitol and I was having second, and third, and fourth thoughts about it.  It didn’t look like this rain was going to let up anytime soon.

I pulled into a parking spot just ahead of Caitlin and Andrew on Washington Street and we texted back and forth from our cars as we studied the radar and prayed the rain would slow enough to bolt to a spot under cover of one of the nearby buildings.  As soon as I started to lose that sliver of hope that their session would go on as planned, the rain came to a quick stop and the sky brightened.  We climbed from our cars, cautiously looking at the sky which to our delight was thinning from thick clouds to wide sweeping expanses of blue, and I greeted this amazing couple who I’ve come to know over the years (I was the lucky one who got to capture their engagement and wedding!!) and we shared hugs and hellos and it was on with the show.

I’m so glad for the storm that came before this beautiful session because wow… just look at the light it gave us.  And how about Caitlin… isn’t she just like sunshine?  I can’t wait to photograph little baby P. when he makes his entrance into this world, which will be any day now.
