Sam and Matt have an appreciation for snow that is true and intense; in fact, the majority of New Yorkers may even view it as slightly insane. The love it. They wish for it. And they even go out and hike for miles and miles and miles and miles in it. In fact, they so love the snow, they traveled to Colorado and Vermont last month just to see more of it. So it would come as no surprise that they prayed the Catskills would get dumped on in the days before their wedding so that they could exchange I do’s at their Full Moon Resort Wedding amid trees and mountains enshrouded in white. I share their love of the snow, so much so that I stashed my snowshoes in the trunk of my car weeks before their big day hoping it would will the white stuff to flutter from the sky in piles and mounds.
Although we all imagined a quiet hike through the woods on snowshoes to the location where they wanted photos captured, the weather does what the weather wants. Januay 15 was a classically cold, mostly grey day; typical to the Catskills at that time of year. For us winter lovers, it was simply stunning. And the icing on the cake was that we were able to find a patch of snow amid the gorgeous wintery grey backdrop for them to pose like the snow prince and princess they are.
Sam absolutely blew my mind with her tolerance for the cold as she posed without complaint for over an hour and a half in her stunning sleeveless gown. After the vows were exchanged, the first kiss passionately planted, and drinks were downed to warm the chilly guests, Sam and Matt and all of their VIP danced the night away inside the cozy barn, which absolutely glowed with their joy and gratitude.
